A pothole is what happens when crack-fill got skipped and one winter of freeze-thaw turned a fixable crack into a structural failure. We repair potholes the right way, saw-cut a clean square around the failure, remove the failed material down to a stable base, tack-coat the edges, drop hot mix, and compact.
Why "throw and roll" doesn't hold
A lot of cheap pothole patching is just cold patch shovelled into the hole and packed by foot. It looks fixed for about three months, then the patch lifts out at the first hard freeze and you're back where you started. We do hot-mix patching: clean square cut, primed edges, hot mix, proper compaction. The patch ties to the surrounding pavement and stays put.
What we charge by
Number of patches and square footage of each. Big lots that need 20+ patches in one visit run a much lower rate per patch than a one-off pothole call. If you can batch patches across a property, do it.
Cure time
Hot-mix patches are drivable basically the moment we leave, same as new asphalt. The mat cools rapidly with the smaller surface area of a patch and you can roll over it within an hour or two without damage.
